OESPA Awards Print E-mail
OESPA offers two recognition programs -- one to honor an elementary principal and one that honors outstanding programs in elementary schools:

National Distinguished Principal Award

Sponsored by NAESP in partnership with AG VALIC, this award is presented each year to an outstanding elementary principal.  ( Congratulations to our 2008 winner, Anita Harris, Hogan Cedars Elementary School

Eligiblity: This award is intended to recognize the outstanding leadership of active, on-line principals. To qualify, nominees must be current active members of OESPA and NAESP.  Need to update your membership?

Timelines: The nomination packets are available in November, and are due into the COSA office in  April.  An OESPA committee determines the state winner.  The nomination packets will be available next fall on the NAESP website.

Recognition: State winners are honored each year at an event in Washington D.C., as well as the COSA Conference in June.   


Pioneer Award

The Pioneer Award was created by OESPA  to recognize outstanding programs in elementary schools around the state. View the eight winning 2008 Pioneer Award projects from the list below!

  • Math BINGO - Principal: Linda St. Pierre, Washington Elementary

 

Eligibility: The principal must be an OESPA active member.

Criteria for selection: Program must be currently in practice, and must be unique in nature.  It must also be adaptable for use in other schools.   An OESPA committee selects 10 school winners each year. 

Timelines: Application forms will be available on the COSA website in early March.  Completed applications are due into the COSA office on May 1. 

Recognition: Projects of the Pioneer Award winners will be featured on the COSA website to share with OESPA members.  Winners will be honored at the Annual Principals' Conference in October of each year.
