|House committee named to review Chalkboard proposals|
House Speaker Karen Minnis has named a special committee to review proposals on education quality, accountability and stability from the Chalkboard Project.
The committee is expected to hold hearings for the public and stakeholders to comment on the Chalkboard proposals as well as those from other groups working during the interim on education policy. The Speaker did not specify groups or proposals other than the Chalkboard Project.
"With so much creative work being done by the Chalkboard Project and other groups, I want a committee to begin looking at their proposals soon to see what can be implemented next session to improve education," said Speaker Minnis in a press release announcing the committee appointment.
Committee members include:
Chair -- Linda Flores (R-Clackamas); Vice-Chair -- Brad Avakian (D-NE Washington County); Jeff Barker (D-Aloha); John Dallum (R-The Dalles); Sara Gelser (D-Corvallis); Karen Minnis (R-Wood Village); Susan Morgan (R-Myrtle Creek); Arnie Roblan (D-Coos Bay); and Gene Whisnant (R-Deschutes County).
