John O’Neill, Forest Grove High School Principal and National Principal of the Year in 2008

Title:  "What a principal needs from an Assistant Principal and Why" or "How to Really Work with your Principal"

The Oregon Assistant Principal of the year for 2008 was from Forest Grove High School.  Principal John O’Neill, his assistant principals and staff are recognized for their efforts to support high student achievement. Go Vickings!

Title: "Sexting:  The Victim, Suspect and Evidence" 

The session will include background behind the recent rise of self-created sexually explicit images among teens, why it is happening, how it is happening, cautionary talents of way to and not to handle these cases, potential criminal charges that may occur, laws that govern this activity, and what evidence can be available to school officials and police – as well as ways to handle such evidence.  Investigation strategies and procedures will also be covered.

"Aspiring to Change the Status Quo"

Aspiring to change the status quo of school culture begins by following a few key best practices and applying it to your school demographics. Based upon 10 years of research and visiting model schools, Julie will share 3 key components she has found to make a difference in student achievement. 

 

 

Join COSA at the only leadership event dedicated specifically to assistant principals and aspiring administrators!  The Assistant Principals and Aspiring Administrators Leadership Conference will be held March 15, 2010, at Northwest Regional ESD and March 17, 2010, at Seven Feathers.

We designed the content, date and time of the conference based on last year’s conference evaluations.  We look forward to seeing you at this conference specific for Assistant Principals and Aspiring Administrators.
