Presenter: Dr. Lisa Hoyt, Director of Renton Academy and Griffin Home School, Renton, WA

 

Come examine district and leadership components that are critical in program development for students with Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities (EBD).  Dr. Hoyt will outline elements important for special education administrators when planning for and building successful and sustainable programs to serve students with the most challenging behavior. As founding Director of Renton Academy, a unique and effective public school serving students with EBD, Dr. Hoyt will share the transformation she has experienced in the past 6 years implementing the Re-Education Philosophy school-wide to support student success.

Presenter: Andrea Hungerford, Hungerford Law Firm

This presentation will help you generate your 2012-13 staff development targets that will enhance student success and decrease legal vulnerability within your district’s special education programs.  The presenter will focus on how to collect data most effectively, how to state criteria in present levels and goals in order to prove that a student made progress, and how to quantify progress reports.
