Position: Autism / Behavioral Specialist / Monday - Friday / 1.000 FTE
This is a grant funded position. Therefore continuation for the 2022-2023 school year is dependent upon funding.

Position Summary:
Autism / Behavioral Specialist will:
Provide support to the eligibility team regarding whether a student exhibits behavioral characteristics associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
ASD and Behavior Consult, Complicated Move Ins and Evaluations
ASD LEEP / Outside placement
Provide information to the Individualized Family Service Plan/Individualized Education Plan Team regarding how the student’s ASD behavioral characteristics might impact his/her ability learn.
Effective communication with families and other professionals.
Application of a variety of strategies that facilitate team effectiveness (e.g., collaboration, problem solving, leadership, meeting management, conflict resolution).
Knowledge, application and ability to teach other about the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, Incidental Teaching, Discrete Trial, Functional Routines, Picture Exchange Communication System, Structured Teaching and Pivotal Response Training.
Consultation to school staff working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the following areas:  communication, behavior, organization, use of visual systems, self-management, sensory needs, social skills and the design of the physical environment in the classroom setting.
Evaluate and maintain information regarding “best practice” in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Oregon Teaching License, with the proper Handicapped Learner endorsement PK-12
Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder preferred
Strong classroom management skills required

Salary / Benefits:   
As provided in negotiated agreement with teacher bargaining unit.
Annual Salary Range $46,020 - $89,187
Initial placement based on education and experience.
