The Klamath Falls City School District is seeking the next principal of Mills Elementary School. Mills Elementary serves Kindergarten through 5th grade students with a population of about 400 students, 18 certified staff, and 25 classified staff. Mills elementary serves a unique population of students comprised of low income students, second language learners, and houses a special education self-contained classroom. Mills and the Klamath Falls City Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator who has a calling and mission to support all students and staff at Mills.
Staff and community members at Mills are looking for the following characteristics in the next Mills Principal:

-A leader who works well with everyone and listens to the concerns of parents and staff,
-A leader who can be objective and inclusive by recognizing the strengths and ideas of all,
-A leader who understands the wide range of intricacies that come with working in a school that has many students facing and/or currently/continuously in trauma,
-A leader who is empathetic and respectful to the needs of our students and staff; Consistent and fair when dealing with behaviors, and
-A leader who has classroom teaching experience in high poverty schools with a strong understanding of effective instructional practices.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an ethic of excellence, a passion for rigorous and equitable learning, a collaborative approach, a belief in people, and a growth mindset.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Leading and managing the school, focusing on key areas of school leadership; equity; instructional leadership; school culture, student support and management; parent engagement, teacher and staff quality.
-Excellent organization and record keeping.
-Developing and articulating a shared vision of success and serving as the lead learner of the school.
-Evaluating and developing effective organizational procedures and practices.
-Engaging the school community in collaborative processes toward a vision of excellence.
-Managing resources, budgeting and staffing.
-Effectively evaluating, supervising, coaching, and, as needed, disciplining staff.
-Analyzing problems, determining alternative solutions, and making appropriate and effective decisions.
-Ensuring that teachers are working effectively as individuals and collaboratively in professional learning communities, departments, and grade-level teams.
-Ensuring all systems and programs are implemented effectively, to achieve the goals and vision of the district.
-Overseeing the teaching and learning program, including scheduling and class assignments, curriculum, lesson planning, professional development, assessment and accountability.
-Maintaining an inclusive school culture
-Embracing and maintaining a culture of quality, continuous improvement, personal responsibility, and innovation directed at improving outcomes for each and every child.
-Creating a welcoming and student-focused school culture with high standards of behavior and a culture of respect, kindness, and inclusion.
-Modeling principles of self-awareness, reflective practice, transparency and ethical behavior.
-Working towards equity and social justice by raising rigor for all while closing opportunity and achievement gaps.
-Ensuring effective and excellent parent communication, engagement, and outreach.
-Maintaining welcoming and positive relations with parents, ensuring that families are involved, supportive, supported and satisfied.
-Consulting with district leaders when making key decisions.
-Advocating for children and families.
-A dedication and commitment to Mills Elementary School, the Klamath Falls City Schools, and the Klamath Falls community.
At least five (5) years of successful teaching experience in a K-12 public school setting
Evidence of successful leadership experience
Masters Degree in Education or a closely related field.
Possess a valid Oregon TSPC Administrative License authorizing service as an elementary school principal.
2021-2022 starting salary is $103,738. Salary is yet to be determined for the 2022-2023 school year. A complete benefits package is offered to employees.
Must adhere to District COVID 19 Requirements.
230 day work year beginning July 1, 2022
