Pilot Rock Elementary School is seeking an outstanding head custodian. The position is 40 hours per week with full medical and dental benefits. The starting pay for the position is $18.76 per hour.

Pilot Rock Elementary School is located 15 miles south of Pendleton near the base of the beautiful Blue Mountains. The school has an enrollment of approximately 180 students. We have a very cohesive, caring staff and Pilot Rock Elementary School is a wonderful place to work. We work on a four-day work schedule.

The job description for the position is as follows:
* Full time w/ benefits
Qualifications:
* High school graduate or GED
* Ability to meet with and deal effectively with the public
* Work well with and enjoy the company of students
* Maintain a valid first aid card
* Physical ability to perform required work
* Demonstrate an aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
* Knowledge of and ability to perform general custodial duties
* Have the ability to follow directions from supervisor
* Be able to work independently and without close supervision

Performance Responsibilities:

* Put up, take down and care for national and state flag. Monitor half-mast notifications
* Schedule summer maintenance; work out schedules for assistant custodians for school year and summer schedules
* Arrange for evening and after-event cleaning of facilities
* Plan supplies and equipment needs, ensure that requisitions are submitted within budget limitations, and maintain a sufficient supply inventory
* Regularly check water, HVAC, plumbing, fire and irrigation systems for proper functionality. Arrange for outside repair/maintenance if beyond skill set of head custodian. Maintain and upgrade electronic HVAC control schedules as needed.
* Assure comfortable learning environment for students
* Move equipment, supplies, and materials as needed
* Maintain school grounds; mow and fertilize lawns; trim and maintain trees and shrubs
* Repair and remodel as required
* Ensure that the physical environment is safe, clean, and sanitary
* Report or correct any safety issues that are found
* Clean, dust, and wash windows and/or floors as time allows
* Clean and move tables in cafeteria after breakfast and lunch daily; auto scrub at least weekly
* Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and steps
* Repair equipment as time and skills allow
* Supervise building security
* Assure that building entrances are swept and cleaned as necessary
* Clean cafeteria after breakfast and lunch
* Sweep and mop kitchen floors
* Dispose of garbage after breakfast and lunch
* Deliver kitchen and paper supplies as needed; help move and store kitchen freight
* Carry out instructions of fire, insurance, and health inspectors
* Serve on the district's safety committee
* Comply with district performance standards as follows:

- Maintain a friendly and cooperative attitude around supervisors, staff, students, and the general public
* Other duties as assigned by the principal
