The Marcola School District High/Middle School Assistant Principal/Dean of Students assists the district administrative staff in organizing and fostering a positive and safe environment that is conducive to best meeting the needs of all students, staff and parents. This includes such responsibilities as: leading, directing, counseling, and supporting a variety of personnel and programs; creating effective parent, teacher, and child communications. Most importantly, this position requires positive support, encouragement, and mentoring of students, while working directly with the district social emotional team and administrative team.
Has experience working with a wide variety of student behaviors.
Strongest candidates will have the ability to provide direction and guidance for students (students grades 6-12.)
Knowledge of Trauma informed practices.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated positive behavior management skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use technology for instruction and communication.
Ability to systematically and interdependently work with a team of teachers to support a collaborative continuous improvement model - this includes proficiency based education.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, administrators, students, parents, and patrons.
Ability to resolve conflicts and demonstrate flexibility and creativity in solving problems.
Must be able to meet all background checks as required under state law.
