Grades: K-8
Salary range: $45,000 to $55,000 (DOE) annually plus benefits

About the Position

The Mt. Pleasant School District is seeking applicants for the position of Superintendent/Principal to begin employment on July 1, 2020. The Superintendent/Principal will serve as the educational leader and chief executive of the school, and, as such, be responsible for promoting the educational development of each student and the professional growth and performance of the staff, operation of the school facilities, and establishment of effective parent and community relations. The School Board anticipates offering a base salary for this part-time position (0.5 to 0.6 FTE) depending on experience and education in the range of $45,000 to $55,000 plus benefits for the position. The Superintendent/Principal performs all the duties of the superintendent and principal for the Mt. Pleasant school district. The Superintendent/Principal also serves as the Board secretary. The Superintendent/Principal may on occasion teach a class or substitute in a regular classroom. This is a part-time position.

About the School

Located at the entrance to the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, the Mt. Pleasant School District began as a one-room school, but now is a K-8 school district with modern facilities and an annual budget of $1,145,000. The district offers the many benefits of a small school district as well as outstanding supplemental programs that draw on the talents of the staff and the resources of surrounding communities. The school district’s 60+ students learn in a unique multi-age classroom configuration that maximizes student learning and builds a cohesive and productive school environment. Following the eighth grade, the majority of students matriculate to Washougal High School or Stevenson High School.

Mt. Pleasant offers the quality of life of a small community and the beauty and recreation activities in the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area. An abundance of cultural, dining and retail opportunities are less than 30 minutes away in the Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area. Washougal is just 10 minutes away along Hwy SR-14.

Essential Position Requirements:
The Board requires the Superintendent/Principal be a strong educational leader who has the following professional experience and training:

• Master’s degree in education or related field;
• A current Washington administrative license to serve as Principal or eligibility to obtain one;
• Successful experience as an educational leader and administrator;
• In lieu of experience and training requirements above, the Board may consider as a candidate for the position an individual who otherwise meets the administrator leadership skills;
