Dr. Adam D. Drummond

Adam serves as a Senior Director & Author for the Center for Model Schools. Prior to his arrival at CMS, Drummond operated the United Way of Huntington County, IN as President & CEO. Additionally, Drummond was honored to serve as a turnaround principal of Lincoln Elementary. Prior professional experiences include elementary and middle school teacher, professional development coordinator, technology integration specialist, and assistant principal.

Adam also works as an adjunct professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at Ball State University. He also invested time as a Professional Faculty Member & Certified K-12 Administration Mentor Trainer for the National Association of Elementary School Principals. Adam earned his Doctorate in Education in 2014 from Ball State University. His dissertation focused on principal qualities of effective leaders in high poverty, high performing schools.

Drummond’s educational specialty domains include instructional design with use of depths of knowledge, digital learning, social emotional learning, organizational leadership, and strategic planning with focus on advising and executive coaching with school and district leaders. Additionally, Drummond has experience working internationally including spending a month in China teaching students and teachers best practice in English language acquisition and leading a series of webinars (during Covid) for educators in Dubai.

Drummond also was recognized by the Indiana General Assembly in February 2016 with a House Resolution for his leadership work while principal at Lincoln Elementary School. Drummond was the District #3 Indiana Association of School Principals 2016 Principal of the Year and was one of 40 leaders in Northeast Indiana awarded by the Fort Wayne Business Weekly “40 Under 40” Award. Drummond was recognized by the Ball State University Teachers College with the Outstanding Alumni Award and by the Alumni Association as the 2010 Graduate of the Last Decade award. Drummond’s elementary school was one of 16 in the state to be awarded in 2015 with the Family friendly award/designation by the Indiana Department of Education.

Drummond’s book The Instructional Change Agent offers school leaders offers 48 practical ways to support in the day-to-day leadership work to boost student achievement and increase teacher efficacy. A useful resource for all school leaders throughout your career, Drummond’s book was called by educational researcher John Hattie as the “leadership bible for school and district administrators”. Drummond identifies ways to lead the charge in high-impact areas including enhancing culture, leading instructional planning, boosting learner engagement, and building strong community partnerships.

Adam resides in Indiana & Wisconsin with his partner Danny, sons Chase, Carson, Ben, and daughter Carter.
