Joe McBreen is the Assistant Superintendent of Innovation for St. Vrain Valley Schools in Colorado, leading transformative initiatives that integrate emerging technologies into K-12 education. His education career began as a school janitor while attending high school, then a classroom teacher, coach, school administrator, CTO, and now a senior leader, reflecting a lifelong commitment to education and personal growth.
Joe is nationally recognized for his leadership in educational technology, earning accolades such as the 2019 Colorado Ed Tech Leader of the Year and national team honors from ISTE and CoSN. He holds certifications in cloud computing from Amazon Web Services, Cisco networking, and Artificial Intelligence, combining deep technical knowledge with a passion for student achievement and future-ready learning.
An innovation trailblazer, Joe founded the world's first high school drone performance team and is spearheading Colorado's pioneering work in K-12 quantum information science. Under his leadership, the Innovation Center at St. Vrain has been named an Apple Distinguished School, showcasing a powerful model for experiential and future-driven education. As a thought leader at the intersection of innovation, leadership, and AI, Joe brings a bold yet practical vision for the future of learning. He will share compelling stories and actionable strategies during his keynote at the 2025 Summer Conference in Eugene, Oregon.
