2025-2026 New SPED Directors Academy

Lead with confidence. Support every learner.

Designed for first-year special education directors or leaders of school districts or ESDs, this academy provides essential training in the leadership and technical aspects of special education. Participants will build skills in compliance, inclusive practices, and collaborative problem-solving—while developing a strong peer network across Oregon.

  • Build a Strong Foundation. Learn the core responsibilities of special education leadership, from finance to compliance.
  • Navigate Complex Challenges. Gain strategies for leading difficult IEP meetings, supporting instruction, and promoting inclusion.
  • Grow Your Network. Connect with other new directors and access three statewide conferences to deepen your learning.

** In order to participate, you must be a COSA “Active” member. **

In-Person Session Dates:

  • October 15, 8:00-11:30 AM | The Graduate Eugene, SPED Conference (complimentary registration)
  • December 3, 9:00-11:00 AM | The Graduate Eugene, Law Conference
  • June 16, 9:30-11:30 AM | COSA Seaside Conference (joint meeting with New SPED Directors)

Cancellation Policy:
Failure to cancel 72 hours in advance of event will result in 50% charge of registration fee.  No-shows will be charged the full event fee.
