Willamette High School Principal, 2024-2025

Bethel School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Principal at Willamette High School beginning the 2024 - 25 school year. Candidates must be able to work collaboratively with the Willamette High School community, have strong instructional leadership, and be able to effectively problem-solve. Qualified candidates will demonstrate a history of working with school-based teams to increase access and accelerate outcomes for all students.

The principal of Willamette High School (WHS) serves a key role in helping our district create relevant, responsive, and joyful school communities where all students thrive. As the principal of the single comprehensive high school in our district, this equity centered leader always seeks to center student-experience in decision-making and has a laser-like focus on instruction. To ensure success, the WHS principal fosters a cooperative learning environment, recognizing and nurturing the brilliance of our students and staff. Their approach actively involves collaboration and the ability to form strong relationships with various constituents, such as students, classified and licensed staff, families, and community partners.

Demonstrate experience building collaborative teams and creating a positive and professional working and learning environment for all
Participate in opportunities to learn, show a strong willingness to grow and maintain an interest in improving practices
Recognize students’ different needs, abilities and interests and be flexible to adjust instruction to meet those needs, abilities and interests
Support school and district initiatives to develop, implement and evaluate multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)
Strive to support and maintain a strong professional learning community that encourages academic excellence for all students
Maintain a high standard of ethics in all professional relationships, actions and decisions
Develop and implement safety practices and protocols with the goal of maintaining a secure campus
Actively participate in managing operational and school activities that positively support the school community, teaching and learning, and Willamette identity

Minimum qualifications:
Oregon Administrator License
3 Years Teaching experience
Culturally proficient skills and strategies

Highly desirable qualifications:
Bilingual or multilingual abilities, preferably Spanish/English
Experience working in richly diverse school communities and environments
Strong Knowledge of Response to Intervention Strategies

Hiring timeline
January 8: Application screening begins and candidates selected for interviews
January 16 - 19: First round interviews and candidates selected for site visits
January 22 - 25: Site visits at Willamette HS and reference checks
January 29 - 21: Final interview with the superintendent
February 12: Recommendation to the School Board
