A full-day formative assessment workshop for school teams, presented by Results Now: How We Can Achieve Unprecedented Improvements in Teaching and Learning author Dr. Mike Schmoker, is set for Wednesday, June 18 in Seaside.  Registration for the workshop, which is part of the 34th annual COSA Seaside Conference, is limited to 100 people, and seats are going quickly.

Schmoker is a speaker and consultant who has written four books and numerous articles which have appeared in Educational Leadership, Phi Delta Kappan, Education Week and Time Magazine.  He is a former middle and high school English teacher and central office administrator.

For the workshop, administrators can bring teams of lead teachers with the intention of developing formative assessments at the school or district level.  Throughout the day, Schmoker will engage teams in writing formative assessments for students.
