Richard Cohn-Lee

Richard Cohn-Lee obtained his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Princeton University and his J.D. from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College. Rich’s prior legal experience includes serving as a judicial clerk for the Honorable David Brewer and Ancer Haggerty and as a litigation attorney with the firm of Stoel Rives. After marrying into the family, Rich joined the law firm as a partner in 1999 with an emphasis on litigation, in state and federal courts, particularly involving student rights and handicapped child law, student discipline, employment matters, school finance and district business operations. Recently, for example, he represented more than 30 eastern Oregon school districts in their defense of claims by the State Dept. of Education for reimbursement of overpayments, and was successful in settling the matter in a multi-party mediation with a favorable result for the districts. Rich is admitted to the Oregon State Bar, the Federal District Court of Oregon, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
