English Language Development Teacher
Classification: Full Time, Exempt Teaching Staff, 1.0 FTE
Requirements: Current TSPC License
The job of English Language Development Teacher was established for the purpose/s of developing English Learners' ability to effectively perform courses of study in the English language by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; providing methods to support and/or reinforce classroom goals in the home; ensuring an optimal learning environment; developing appropriate lesson plans and instructional techniques; evaluating students level of English fluency and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: Incumbents in this class must have previous experience working with second language students. Incumbents must be able to provide leadership and support for the classroom teacher. Additionally, teachers must possess a valid ESOL endorsement. This position is an itinerant position.
Accesses student information systems for the purpose of updating student test results and verifying student information for standardized testing.
Administers tests and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating students' language ability.
Assesses students' progress, expectations, goals, etc. for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
Assists other teachers for the purpose of implementing curriculum.
Collaborates with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum.
Instructs, as needed, English Learners for the purpose of improving their success in academics and skills.
Models for teachers appropriate English communication for the purpose of developing students' ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
Monitors academic progress of recently reclassified students for the purpose of ensuring success.
Prepares teaching materials and related reports for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress.
Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and an optimal learning environment.
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code, administrative and/or school policies.
Bilingual Educators preferred, but not required;
Valid Oregon Teaching License or an action plan to gain a valid Oregon Teaching License;

Successful applicant must pass pre-employment drug and background screening.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $46,000 - $62,000 per year
