Job Title: Middle School Assistant Principal
Salary Range: Licensed Administrator Salary Reports to: Principal or designee
To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student.
Essential Job Functions:
Assists in establishing and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the students.
Accepts responsibility for all student learning as prescribed by the District adopted curriculum.
Assists in the recruitment, screening, hiring, assigning, and training of the school's staff.
Assists in supervising and evaluating staff assigned to the school.
Participates in and/or leads the school-based management council.
Accepts responsibility for the attendance, conduct, health, evaluation, monitoring, and placement of students.
Maintains the safety and administration of the school.
Assists in developing the school budget.
Acts as Principal in their absence.
Designs and implements strategies to provide for a successful opening and closing of school year by coordinating the efforts of entire staff.
Administers student discipline.
Represents the school in expulsion hearings.
Participates as an active and contributing member of the administrative team.
Responsible for being familiar with the school/district policies and procedures which govern the work.
Prompt and regular attendance is required.
Other Job Functions:
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Participates in various meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving one's skills/knowledge.
Essential Job Requirements - Qualifications:
Valid Oregon Administrative License.
Prior successful administrative experience preferred.
Middle level teaching experience desirable.
Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously as a team member.
Ability to plan, organize, and work without close supervision.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District personnel and the public.
Maintains confidential information and the privacy of District staff, students, and families.
Carries out work responsibilities effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and new or emergency situations.
Ability to work with a diverse population.
Ability to respect confidential information.
Basic computer skills to include use of word processing programs, database programs, knowledge of the Internet and use of a modem.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment varies but is usually moderate.
Terms of Employment: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of administrative staff.
