Position Goal

The School Counselor works with the districts’ educational teams to provide interventions and valuable resources for the educational advancement of students. Counselors work to engage students into the school setting, coordinating the integration of mental health services and other wrap-around support services. They identify academic options and individualize student’s educational plans while providing social/emotional supports.


Successful applicants must meet appropriate school counselor certification requirements for the State of Oregon with endorsement and appropriate authorization levels. This position will be assigned to serve kindergarten through sixth grade students beginning with the 2021-2022 school year. This school district operates on a four-day school week.

Responsibilities may include: Attending and/or assist in professional development for staff/parents and/or community, reporting issues to authorities as necessary, attends parent conferences, participates in crisis intervention support, and other duties as assigned. Understand theories of human growth and development, learning theories and personality development. Provides support services to parents/guardians and staff as needed. Recognize the responsibilities of a school counselor and offer services that are appropriate and in agreement with professional ethics. Be aware of the impact of assessment and counseling services on the public relations of the total school program.
