Salary: $48,096 to $93,589 per year

James John Elementary School with Portland Public Schools is actively seeking a Special Education Learning Center Teacher to provide curriculum, assessment, and instruction to students by teaching skills, content, and critical thinking. Assessment is continually used to adjust, inform, and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a wide range of students including students who are English Language Learners, Talented and Gifted students, have diverse modes of learning, and are served by Individual Education Plans. With the District’s focus on eliminating systemic racism and its adverse impact on student learning, we seek to hire individuals who bring to our district a deep commitment to racial equity and social justice.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) License with Handicapped Learner or Special Education: Generalist endorsement.
- Experience with students with severe developmental delays.
- Current pediatric CPR credential or willing to receive training as soon as possible.

This is a temporary position for the remainder of the 2021/2022 school year.

On August 19th, 2021, Gov. Kate Brown announced that all Oregon K-12 educators, staff, and volunteers will be required to be fully vaccinated by October 18th, 2021 or six weeks after full federal approval, whichever is later. Exceptions to this requirement are limited to Medical or Religious exceptions.
