Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Database Developer (Information Systems Specialist 6) to join our Office of Finance and Information Services (OFIT), Application Development Unit. The Database Developer will maintain and evolve the enterprise data/application resources for the Department of
Education.

This Is What You Need To Qualify
(a) Five (5) years of information systems experience in writing Microsoft SQL stored procedures; OR

(b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND three (3) years of information systems experience in writing Microsoft SQL stored procedures; OR

(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience in writing Microsoft SQL stored procedures.

Candidates who are the most competitive will possess a compelling combination of the following background, skills, and experience:
• Knowledge and skills in the following development toolsets: Microsoft T-SQL
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to translate technical terms into language and concepts understandable by end users
• Ability to gather and analyze requirements
• Ability to translate requirements into technical specifications
• Ability to design systems and database structures
• Ability to write test plans and test scripts
• Ability to understand multiplatform and multi-format data, data conversions, and data interfaces
• Ability to debug code and troubleshoot data interface problems
• This position works collaboratively in a team setting. Good team skills are necessary - including the willingness to collaborate, share information, and contribute to the team’s success as necessary.

Additional Information
Employees who are Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS; the salary range noted above reflects base salary only.
This position requires employee pass both the Child Protection Services and Criminal History checks, including FBI fingerprinting and is required to enroll in the Central Background Registry. Employee is required to read and successfully pass the Criminal Justice Information Services Security Policy Certification (CJIS) within 90 days of hire date. Adverse background data may be grounds for immediate disqualification.
