SALARY: $112,531 - $130,699 depending upon certification, degrees, and HR experience

The Director of Human Resources plans, directs, organizes, and administers the staffing and human resources functions for licensed, administrative, classified, confidential and supervisory positions - this includes assignment, recruitment, selection, employee record keeping, compensation, evaluation, and the administration of labor relations and employee benefits. The Director also provides administrative leadership for critical, short-term projects assigned by the superintendent or designee.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability needed for the position.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
• Ability to interpret and implement all board policies, administrative regulations, and negotiated agreements
• Ability to provide leadership in the supervision of all school personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth, and achieving overall objectives of the district’s instructional program
• Ability to coordinate labor relations and contract negotiations
• Knowledgeable of governmental statutes, regulations, and rules relating to personnel administration, and ability to advise interested parties of the provisions of the law
• Ability to counsel employees to resolve complaints, difficulties, and other matters related to personnel management, and to work with other administrators on difficult or sensitive personnel matters
• Ability to maintain confidentiality


• At least three years of human resources management and/or related experience in a K-12 setting
• School Administration License preferred - (emphasis in educational administration preferred)
• pHCLE or other HR certifications preferred; or the ability to attain HR certifications
• Experience in various aspects of school administration and other qualifications that the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
• Ability to problem solve, conduct unbiased and thorough investigations and use corrective actions when needed
• Knowledge of the administrative/support services that a school system provides
• Ability to provide the fiscal officers with the information necessary for proper payment of salaries, wages, and benefits for both licensed and classified employees
• Ability to assemble and maintain permanent employee records of all district employees to provide a comprehensive, efficient, accurate, and current record of all matters pertaining to employment, transfer, retirement, leave, promotion, etc.
• Ability to coordinate and assist the administrators in the recruitment, interviewing, and placing of licensed and classified employees
• Ability to formulate and implement a program for the dissemination of vacancy information, application processing, and the verification of qualifications
• Ability to assist other administrators in decisions regarding assignments, transfers, dismissals, promotions, and employment recommendations for the superintendent and the board of directors
• Ability to assist other administrators in the evaluation of employees under intensive review and evaluation of all probationary teachers
• Ability to prepare district-level personnel reports that are required by law or are requested by the superintendent and board
• Ability to serve as a liaison between the district and community, interpreting activities and policies of the district and encouraging community involvement with the district
• Ability to provide direction to others and to make independent judgments
• Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, teachers, and the community
• Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds
• Such alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable.


• Appropriate Administrative License preferred (emphasis in educational administration preferred) and/or appropriate HR certifications
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Human Resources or related field
• Possess a valid First Aid card if required
• Possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License
• Bloodborne Pathogens Training/Hepatitis B Shot Series Training if required
