Description: Sisters School District is in search of a highly qualified Permanent, Full-time PE/Health Teacher with an Oregon Teaching License at Sisters Middle School. This candidate will also serve as the Sisters Middle School Athletic Director. This is a 1.0 FTE position, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day from 7:30am – 3:30pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other related duties may be assigned.
• Teach classes at a proficient level based upon the SSD standards of professional practice.
• Adhere to all Oregon Administrative Rules.
• Embrace and implement researched-based instructional strategies.
• Establish daily classroom routines and conditions that allow ALL students the opportunity to access and make sense of course content.
• Be flexible and adapt to student and school need.
• Be organized, reflective, participatory and punctual.
• Make learning visible through effective questioning, student engagement, and discourse routines.
• Work frequently and cooperatively with other team members to continuously improve the instructional program.
• Reflect on the effectiveness of daily instruction and use research-based best practices to make adjustments based on student outcomes, behaviors, and feedback received.
• Effectively use computer and technology to support effective instruction and student learning.
• Evaluate and differentiate student progress and adapt individual programs to meet student needs.
• Implement Common Core curriculum, district curriculum, and school and district professional development with rigor, purpose, and planning.
• Comply with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
• Adhere to all standards established by Teachers Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) for the Competent and Ethical Educator.
• The candidate will need the background and skills to organize, direct, and promote Sisters Middle School athletic programs as an integral part of the total education program. An ability to build coaching, parent, and community partnerships to expand on our existing positive culture is essential.
• Must be technically and financially literate and have demonstrated success as a leader, organizer, and athletic program facilitator.
• Maximize student athlete participation in athletics, including students with special needs.
• Ensure Title IX requirements are met. Promote high standards of conduct for the community, coaches, and players. Demonstrate equitable commitment and support for all Outlaw athletic programs.
• Celebrate successes, honoring and recognizing acts of athletic character and hard work.
• Manage athletic schedules and administration, systems, officials, transportation and events. Responsible for hiring and developing SMS Outlaw coaches.
• Promote standards for Outlaw fans and supporters. Define and cultivate a positive and healthy sports culture for Outlaw athletes. Ensure District and OSAA athletic policies are adhered to.
• Supervise home athletic contests, and arrange for others to do so. Acts as host to officials and visiting teams, helps secure game workers.
• Establish consistent facility access guidelines. Prepare and manage the annual budget for all athletics at Sisters Middle School.
• Track and monitor all mandatory training requirements of all coaches.
• Maintain appropriate licenses and training hours as required.
• Attend work regularly.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s Degree; at least three years’ experience.
● Must have valid TSPC Oregon teaching license with a Physical Education and Health Endorsement
● Submission of professional application materials.
● Good communication skills with staff, parents and community.

Preferred Qualifications:
● Master’s degree and appropriate coursework in content area.
● Experience with AVID program.
● PBIS Experience
● RtI Experience
● PLC Knowledge & Experience.
● Outdoor Experimental Learning.
● Social-Emotional/Trauma Informed Practice Knowledge.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Start Date: August 29, 2022

Salary: $39,667.00 - $78,023.00 Based on education and experience per CBA. Excellent benefits package and Employer-paid PERS.

Contract Days: 190 days
