Salary:$16.17-$19.89 per hour

GENERAL DUTIES:
Operate District vehicles of various sizes for the purpose of safely transporting students or supporting
District programs. Follow procedures to ensure that vehicles are safe to drive.
KNOWLEDGE:
QUALIFICATIONS:
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential
responsibilities and essential functions satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Hold a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a valid Oregon School Bus
Driver’s Certificate or be able to obtain both
• Successfully pass fingerprint and background check
• Pass a pre-employment drug test
SKILLS:
• Proficient oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work harmoniously with others and collaborate solutions to concerns
• Ability and willingness to effectively communicate in verbal and written modes with
students, parents, staff and administration
• Ability to maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or District
patrons
• Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited
to email and systems applications
• Physical ability to perform required work
• Be able to work independently and without close supervision
• Work well with and enjoy the company of students
• Ability to meet with and deal effectively with the public
• Demonstrate an aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
• Have the ability to follow directions
• Ability to assess situations and act swiftly and appropriately and with sound judgment for
the safety and wellbeing of students and staff
RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment
2. Annually pass the required online trainings by the District’s assigned due-date
3. Follow site and/or District protocol for reporting absences
4. Utilize the District’s electronic systems and applications related to the job
5. Transport children to and from school/activities in a safe manner
6. Verify that students who are on their bus are on the correct bus
7. Confer with transportation supervisor when mechanical or safety problems arise
8. Obey all traffic laws
9. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure proper vehicle operating conditions
10. Ensure safety of all students
11. Discipline children when required to maintain a safe and healthy environment
12. Communicate discipline issues to the transportation supervisor and/or principal
13. Develop and maintain vehicle evacuation plans and perform drills with students
14. Assist students with getting on or off the bus when required
15. Immediately report accidents to transportation supervisor
16. Clean District vehicles both inside and outside
17. Pass random drug tests
18. Perform other reasonable duties that from time to time may be assigned to meet the usual and
unusual demands placed on the organization
