Digital Learning Program Specialist (Education Program Specialist 2)
We are seeking a Digital Learning Program Specialist in the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment. This is a full time, limited duration position, expected to end June 30, 2023.This position may be extended pending funding approval. Limited Duration positions are benefits eligible. Classified roles represented by the Service Employee International Union (SEIU).
This position is ideal for those seeking more work/life balance with the ability to work a hybrid of both office and remote work environments. This position will be primarily remote, however, the ability to report to Salem is required when business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities. What you will do!
This position leads collaborative efforts with districts, schools, ESDs, other public agencies, and community and business partners to leverage resources to support education technology/digital learning. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a network of national experts, local and regional educators, Tribes, and community members to promote best practices in digital learning and the use of digital technologies in both remote and in-person settings and the use of equitable and culturally sustaining digital instructional practices to meet the needs of students in remote/online and hybrid settings.
A day in the life:
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership in the area of digital and online learning and provide technical assistance to LEAs to support their implementation of educational technology, digital learning tools and pedagogies across in-person, online/remote, and hybrid instructional models.
Typical Duties Include:
- Design and oversee digital learning programs that leverage education technology and digital learning practices and pedagogies to address emerging issues and promote equitable access to high quality instruction.
- Provide technical assistance, professional learning, and external engagement to school districts, ESDs, and other education partners including public charter schools and private schools.
- Serve as the education specialist point person at ODE for COVID-19 related questions by providing interpretation, guidance, and assistance following state and federal laws and current research.

What are we looking for?
Master's degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university and five years of education experience in the specialty area under recruitment (e.g., classroom teacher, counselor, itinerant service provider), two years of which includes leadership experience (e.g., lead teacher, program coordinator or director, school administrator) in the specialty area under recruitment.
OR
A Doctorate in Education or related field from an accredited university may substitute for two years of the education experience, but not for the two years of leadership experience. An Oregon Standard Administrative License (issued by Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission) may substitute for the two years of leadership experience.

- Knowledge of local, state, and federal programs related to digital learning and education technology
- Experience providing advice or technical assistance to school districts, tribes, community groups or public
- Experience in a school-setting, Education Service District, district, and/or State agency, with direct experience developing or overseeing hybrid models of instruction highly preferred
- Experience designing, leading, and/or overseeing professional learning experiences for teachers, principals, and/or system leaders highly preferred, with specific emphasis on providing these experiences in a virtual or remote setting

- Salary Range: The range listed is the Non-PERS salary range. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS.
