Job Description:
We are seeking a Leading for Student Safety and Prevention Systems Specialist (Program Analyst 4). This position is in our Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Team with the Oregon Department of Education. This is a permanent, full-time position in management service.
This position is ideal for those seeking more work/life balance with the ability to work a hybrid of both office and remote work environments. This position will be primarily remote, however, the ability to report to Salem is required when business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities.

As our Student Safety and Prevention Systems (SSPS) Specialist, you serve as a senior staff person in the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (OEDI) leading and supporting the planning, coordination, and development of culturally-responsive policies and practices for the SIS Team initiatives and primarily the School Safety and Prevention System (SSPS), including behavioral safety assessment, crisis response and intervention, and the prevention of bullying, cyberbullying, harassment, intimidation, and sexual violence. You will create and conduct frequent analysis/evaluation of complex, politically sensitive policies, practices, and guidance supporting the implementation of SSPS (ORS 339.341), innovate and develop culturally responsive guidance, training, and best practices in behavioral safety assessment (OAR 581-029-0001), and write reports and design/conduct oral presentations to ESDs, school districts, inter-/intra-agency partners, community-based organizations, the State Board of Education, and the Oregon Legislature (among others) regarding progress on the implementation of SSPS. You will use evidence-based decision-making to provide recommendations and guidance to support SSPS and other SIS initiatives both inside and outside the agency.
You will also work closely with the OEDI lead focused on suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention efforts through coordinating, collaborating, visioning, and providing technical assistance, training, and support to districts.

What are we looking for?
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and five years experience coordinating or administering a program; OR any combination of experience or education equivalent to eight years of experience coordinating or administering a program.
Candidates who are the most competitive will possess a compelling combination of the following background, skills, and experience:
Experience with and knowledge of safety and prevention systems, mental health frameworks, best/promising practices, and suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention planning, strategy, support, and resourcing, particularly in Oregon P-20 education.
Experience in research-based innovation and systems design and use of evidence-based policy and practices in decision-making.
Experience providing training, technical assistance, and/or recommendations to partners or public.
Excellent writing, speaking, listening, and communication skills.
Experience managing projects with multiple partners.
Experience working with culturally and individually diverse groups.
A strong commitment to racial equity and inclusion including the ability to learn and apply knowledge and skills to interrupt systemic oppression, and engage in and promote equitable, culturally-responsive practices.

Additional Information
Salary Range: The range listed is the Non-PERS salary range. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS.
