What you will do!
In May 2022, Oregon’s Governor directed the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) to award $5 million of GEER funding grants to provide opportunities for students, particularly for women and students of color, to access computer science learning and enrichment opportunities during the 2022-23 school year and to develop a statewide implementation plan for computer science education, which will provide access to comprehensive computer science education opportunities to every public school student in this state by the 2027-2028 school year.
This position will play a central role in developing and implementing Oregon’s Statewide Computer Science Implementation Plan and administering grants to support local implementation efforts to expand equitable access to computer science learning opportunities. A day in the life:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership in the area of computer science education and provide technical assistance to schools and districts to support their implementation of computer science education programs, specifically as it pertains to the Governor’s Computer Science Directive.
Typical duties include:
Leading collaborative efforts with schools, districts, other public agencies, and community and business partners to leverage resources to support student access to and engagement in computer science courses specific to the $5 million GEER fund investment for the 2022-23 school year
Working as part of a collaborative team to develop a Statewide Computer Science Implementation Plan
Coordinating with internal and external partners to provide technical assistance, professional learning, and external engagement for schools, school districts, Education Service Districts (ESDs), public charter schools, private schools, and other community and industry partners in order to meet the needs of students and fulfill the goals of the Governor’s Computer Science Directive

What are we looking for?
Master's degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university and five years of education experience in the specialty area under recruitment (e.g., classroom teacher, counselor, itinerant service provider), two years of which includes leadership experience (e.g., lead teacher, program coordinator or director, school administrator) in the specialty area under recruitment.
A Doctorate in Education or related field from an accredited university may substitute for two years of the education experience, but not for the two years of leadership experience.
An Oregon Standard Administrative License (issued by Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission) may substitute for the two years of leadership experience.

Experience teaching, leading, and/or researching computer science education, with experience in Oregon context preferred.
Experience coordinating and/or leading community and organizational partner engagement efforts.
Ability to establish effective relationships with a variety of education and community partners representing diverse perspectives.
Strong verbal and written communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated ability for project management focused on systems level organizational change.
Experience monitoring and evaluating grants and contracts.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal programs related to computer science education
Experience providing advice or technical assistance to school districts, Tribes, community groups or public.

Employees who are Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS; the salary range noted above reflects base salary only.
