Salary: $136,683 - $147,192 per year

Portland Public Schools (PPS) is actively seeking a Clark Elementary School Planning Principal to help shape the vision for the new middle school and elementary school, scheduled to open in Fall 2023.

Reporting to the Area Senior Director and Regional Superintendent, the Clark Elementary School Planning Principal will assume full responsibility for the planning and opening of an elementary school beginning July 1, 2023. At the conclusion of the planning period, the planning principal will transition to being the principal in the fall 2023. The planning principal will work to plan and prepare for the school’s opening including planning and leading community meetings to establish a shared vision, mission, culture and academic focus of the school. Provide support in developing an academic program that is both rigorous and supportive, with extra/co-curricular activities that offer opportunities for student leadership and character development, and a place where students thrive because of caring adults, who are culturally responsive in their mindset and actions. Support the principal in the transition from a K-8 school to a 6-8 middle and K-5 elementary school. This may include engaging in the instructional and logistical shaping of the elementary and middle school.

Minimum Qualifications:
A State of Oregon issued Administrative License is required at the time of appointment.
A minimum of two (2) years of successful school administrative leadership experience as a middle school principal in an educational setting with demonstrated results in improving the academic performance of students required.
Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or notice of medical or religious exception at the time of hire.
