The Board of Trustees of the Glide School District, Glide, Oregon, is seeking a highly qualified, fully certified, educational leader to serve as Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position July 1, 2023.

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development, has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Trustees in identifying and screening the candidates.

Location: 90 miles south of Eugene

The Qualifications

The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The Board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The Board developed the following desired characteristics.

• High degree of integrity/honesty with strong core values that are consistent with our community;
• Puts kids first; is committed to serving all kids K-12;
• Effective communication and listening skills with all constituents – all staff, parents, students and community members;
• Is committed to excellent communication and developing and maintaining a positive relationship with the school board;
• Is personable/approachable while keeping an open mind;
• Decisiveness based on active listening, multiple points of view, and best available data and a practice of sharing the reasons for decisions when possible (transparency);
• Willing to become a meaningful and contributing member of our community within and
• Background in teaching and building administration preferably in small rural areas similar to the Glide community;
• Understands school finance, demonstrates sound fiscal management and strong budgeting skills; preference for understanding Oregon finance;
• Emotional intelligence and aptitude to lead, shape and motivate staff and others toward a common vision;
• Commitment to maintaining and elevating the academic achievement of the district.

Requirements:
• Has or is eligible or can be eligible for an Oregon Superintendent license
• Three years administrative experience in a lead position

Preferred
District-wide leadership experience

Salary range: $135,000 -$145,000 - DOE
