Bend-La Pine Schools is committed to the principle of equity. Equity supersedes the notion of equality, where all are treated the same. Pursuing equity requires the removal of barriers and the promotion of inclusive practices so that all students fully benefit. The principle of equity will inform all BLS policies, regulations, programs, operations, practices, and resource allocations.
Studies have shown that some individuals (women and people of color, for example) are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every single qualification in a job description. Our goal is to find the best candidate for the position, and we acknowledge that that candidate may be an individual from a less traditional background. We encourage you to apply, even if you don't believe you meet every one of our qualifications described. If you are unsure whether you meet the qualifications of a position, or how this would be determined, please feel free to contact Human Resources to discuss your application.
ROSLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
About the District:
Bend-La Pine Schools (BLS) is the fifth-largest school district in Oregon and comprises 33 schools, plus two charter schools, across an attendance area of approximately 16,000 square miles. We employ over 2,000 staff members in licensed and non-licensed capacities, making us the second-largest employer in Central Oregon. At Bend-La Pine Schools, we believe in educating thriving students and know the importance of supporting our students to become kind and thoughtful humans who engage with the world around them.
The School:
Bend-La Pine Schools welcomes applications of qualified persons interested in the position of principal at La Pine Elementary School.
Rosland Elementary School is proud to be part of Bend-La Pine Schools and to serve the unique needs of its community and has a current enrollment in grades K-5 of approximately 250 students.
Although small in size, Rosland does not lack in heart or a desire for continuous improvement. Rosland is a small school where each child and family is part of the learning community. With a staff that is continually working to provide a nurturing and respectful environment for all.
Many of our students come from a low socio-economic background (traditionally at 70% or more F/R rate) and/or have special learning needs (above state average in percentage of SPED students served).
Although its history can be traced back for more than 100 years, La Pine is one of Oregon’s youngest cities, being incorporated in 2007. The community of La Pine proudly proclaims itself to be “Small Town Strong” and contains many beautiful mountain peaks, tall pines, clear rivers and over 300 days of sunshine each year – translating into numerous outdoor recreational activities that are enjoyed year-round. La Pine is the doorstep to 2.5 million acres of forest, seven wilderness areas, six rivers, 157 lakes, 1600 miles of trails and the unique landscape of the Newberry Volcanic Monument.
Living and working in La Pine means that recreation - whether it’s skiing, kayaking, hiking, golfing, fly fishing, or another outdoor activity - is part of your life.
