The Position - What you’ll do 
The Executive Director of Instruction at NWRESD is the chief administrator for all Kindergarten through Post Secondary instructional services. This dynamic leader is charged with supporting and leading efforts related to building support systems including but not limited to: literacy, multi-tiered systems of support, inclusion, graduation assurance, counseling services, and professional learning.

The Executive Director is an anti-racist agency-wide leader responsible for program vision, administration, standards, monitoring, accountability, and reporting within the mission and vision of the NWRESD. As a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet, the Executive Director will ensure high levels of collaboration amongst and between departments, effectively communicate with staff, family, community and school district stakeholders, and ensure program resources and improvement efforts are aligned to meet the commitments established in the Board-adopted Strategic Plan.

Specifically, you’ll lead and oversee NWRESD’s Professional Learning, Data/Assessment College and Career Readiness, STEM/CTE, Migrant Education, Outdoor School, and Attendance programs.

Leading coordination efforts across all instruction services 

Providing technical assistance to the region’s 20 school districts on their Student Investment Accounts, school improvement efforts, and teaching and learning leadership

Managing networks of educators across 20 school districts participating in professional learning in the following areas: Early Learning, 9th Grade Success Network, Social/Emotional Learning, Early Literacy and Instructional Coaching, and School Safety and Prevention.

The salary range for this position is $141,428 to $152,358 based on professional experience and a twelve-month work year (235 working days), including holidays.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Executive Director of Instructional Services at NWRESD is the chief administrator for all
Kindergarten through Post-Secondary instructional services programming and leads the Senior
Leadership Team for the Instructional Services Department. The Executive Director supervises
several Directors of Instruction, Director of Student and Family Support Services, and the
Outdoor School Principal in their implementation of their instructional programs that serve
twenty districts across four counties. Current programs include, but are not limited to:
Professional Learning, College and Career Readiness, STEM/CTE, Migrant and Title III
Education, Northwest Outdoor Science School, Regional Educator Networks, Oregon Response
to Instruction and Intervention, and Attendance Services.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the
knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to

1. Master’s Degree in Education Leadership or related field, required.
2. Valid Oregon Professional Administrative License required OR ability to obtain a license by
July 1, 2023.
3. Minimum of 5 (five) years successful experience managing people, programs, and
services in the field of K-12 education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
1. Extensive knowledge of best practices and developing trends, policies, and practices in
K-12 education with a specific focus on curriculum and instruction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Include the following. Performs some or all of the following
tasks. Other Duties may be assigned. The duties listed below are not inclusive, but
characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position.
1. Lead and oversee the Instructional Services Department for NWRESD. This includes but
is not limited to:
a. Technical assistance to the region’s 20 school districts on their Student
Investment Accounts, Integrated Guidance, school improvement efforts, and
teaching and learning
i. leadership
b. Networks of educators across 20 school districts participating in professional
i. learning in the following areas:, 9th Grade Success Network,
ii. Social/Emotional Learning, K-5 Reading, Instructional Coaching, and other
instructional needs as identified by component districts
c. College and Career Readiness including Dual Credit programming
d. Title III
e. STEM/CTE including the NW STEM Hub Leadership
f. Northwest Outdoor Science School
g. School Safety and Prevention
h. Migrant Education
i. Attendance SErvices
j. Grant writing and development
k. Instructional Rounds
2. Directly supervise and support directors and program administrators across multiple
teams and a current staff of approximately 70.
3. Lead coordination efforts across all instructional services programs listed under A.
4. Convene Curriculum and Instruction Directors across the 4-county region and work with
Superintendents to drive instructional improvement across the region for students.
5. Lead the Instructional Services Leadership team to set vision for the department and
continuous improvement planning for services to our 20 districts based on stakeholder
input and feedback.
6. Oversee all aspects of the budget across multiple funding sources and grants to ensure
fiscal integrity and alignment with the NWRESD strategic goals and priorities.
7. Leverage existing and potential resources through grant solicitation.
8. Articulate the NWRESD’s mission, instructional philosophy, and curriculum
implementation strategies to the community and solicit its support in realizing the
district’s mission.
