POSITION: Career Technical Education (CTE) Health Sciences Teacher/Coordinator

LOCATION: Pleasant Hill High School

SALARY: $39,226 to $76,106 based on 2022-23 schedule. We are currently in negotiations for the 2023-24 year.
ABOUT THE DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY: Pleasant Hill School District serves approximately 975 students in grades K-12 and believes in maintaining the characteristics and qualities associated with a small rural community. Pleasant Hill is located in Lane County that has maintained an undiscovered charm despite being only a short 15-minute drive to the University of Oregon, numerous shopping and dining experiences, and local hospital services. Pleasant Hill’s close proximity to both the coast and mountains provides its residents with some of Oregon’s greatest hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation opportunities. The Eugene airport is a close drive away and is the second largest airport in Oregon generating over 800,000 trips annually with services to destinations like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Seattle.

ABOUT THE POSITION: Pleasant Hill School District seeks outstanding candidates for the position of CTE Health Science Teacher/Coordinator to instruct and inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals. The Health Science teacher provides students with a comprehensive, structured approach to meet the academic, technical, social and experiential needs of students interested in post-secondary training for a car To support this work, successful candidates will possess the following characteristics and experience that support our mission to graduate all students with high levels of academic and personal achievement, ready for post-secondary excellence, and prepared for productive, compassionate citizenship through research-based instruction and a collaborative system of support.

• A commitment to foster a safe, healthy and engaging environment;
• Experience implementing and overseeing program requirements leading to certification of students as nursing and medical assistants.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge and experience with high school-aged students;
• Strong understanding of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for academics and social/emotional/behavior;
• Strong student relationship building skills and the ability to establish a sound system of classroom routines and management;
• Establishes effective, collaborative working relationships with diverse staff, students and community populations;
• Knowledge of industry certifications;
• Knowledge of industry-standard medical equipment, such as patient/procedure simulators and EKG equipment;
• Ability to effectively manage and supervise students and their work.
• Ability to collaborate with other Health Science teachers to align standards/assessments, as well as coordinate course sequencing in the pathway;
• Ability to write grants and secure additional funding for the program;
• Ability to organize fundraising efforts and prepare for state and international HOSA competitions;
• Ability to oversee the program budget and manage Perkins V and Career Pathways funds and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
• A valid Oregon license in a comprehensive medical career with a minimum of 2000 hours clinical experience OR
• A valid state of Oregon teaching license, or the ability to get one, with Career and Technical (CTE) Endorsement in Health Science.
• Successfully pass fingerprinting, criminal, Oregon Department of Education, and TSPC background checks.
