K-12 Online Educator
Full-Time

Brookings-Harbor School District is seeking applications for a K-12 Online Teacher. While the Teacher will be teaching online students, the Teacher will be required to work on-site.

Essential Job Functions:

Identifies individual student’s needs with continuous formative and summative assessments and uses those assessments to plan instruction.
Fluently uses online and computer-based programs for teaching and communication.
Uses a variety of appropriate methods and materials to implement instruction.
Organizes and manages the virtual classroom to create the optimum learning conditions
Works collaboratively with other staff.
Applies learning theories to meet the needs of students
Evaluates and reports student progress
Initiates, plans, and carries out parent conferences/communications.
Initiates and maintains communication with parents and colleagues.
Plans and coordinates additional activities.
Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or other acceptable educational training.
Valid Oregon teaching license with appropriate subject endorsement if needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Multiple subject matter endorsements preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Teacher works primarily within the school building. Although the primary work is indoors, the Teacher frequently works outdoors supervising students, in variable weather conditions including inclement weather. Some teachers have assignments that are routinely outside, such as a Physical Education or Agriculture Teacher. The incumbent must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time. The incumbent will need to walk quickly at times, as well as speak and hear in often loud environments.

The position involves high level of interaction with students and families from multiple and diverse backgrounds many who have particular or unique needs. The mental demands on the Teacher are considerable. The incumbent must maintain control under stress, and must manage him/herself in the presence of emotionally challenging interactions with staff, students, and parents.
