Imbler School District is seeking a Hr. High/High School Woods/Metals, CTE, Agriculture Science Teacher. This would be an ideal position for a flexible candidate with excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for instructing junior high/high school age students, grades 7-12. Previous experience in STEM and Project-Based Learning (PBL) preferred. Applicants should be capable of developing and implementing a strategic vision in Woods/Metals, CTE, Agriculture Science and STEM courses. This is a unique opportunity to build a two-teacher program.

The Imbler Agriculture Education program has a long history of being a part of the school district since 1929. After a 21 year gap from the early 1970’s to the 1990’s, the program was resurrected in 1993 and is in a large four lab building built in 1993. It has a classroom, computer lab, metal and wood shops as well as three greenhouses for learning areas. The program has worked hard over the past 25 years to build its curriculum, community support, student leadership and reputation as a regional, state, and national quality program. This position will work to build up the Power, Structure, and Technology pathway.

The candidate must be able to use highly effective engagement practices and differentiated instruction to reach the various needs of our learners. The candidate must be able to interact with students, parents, colleagues and community members in a positive, respectful, and responsible manner. The candidate is expected to believe in the success of every student and to inspire them to achieve that success. The candidate should feel very comfortable teaching collaboratively and thematically across academic disciplines and to multi-age groups in a STEM/Project Based Learning environment.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic teacher of Woods/Metals, CTE and Agriculture Education, collaborating with school and district colleagues, and creating strong ties with the community. They will plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program as designated by the Imbler School District in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Some of the classes being offered are: Junior High Ag/Shop (Ag Explorer), Small Engines, Welding I/II, Ag Construction, Foundational Math, and Natural Resources. With some of the classes being offered as Dual Credit through Oregon community colleges, appropriate curriculum requirements will need to be met in such cases.

This position may also advise and evaluate students regarding Supervised Agricultural Experience Programs (SAE's), assist students with the planning and maintenance of SAE’s and conduct site visits of SAE’s as recommended by the Oregon Department of Education.

The Junior High/High School Woods/Metals, CTE, Agriculture Science Teacher could have an extended contract, and if so, they may be expected to maintain a summer program that includes the school farm, FFA activities, program development and educational activities. This opportunity/possibility would be discussed upon interview/hire.

This individual may also assume a responsible role in public and professional relations by actively participating in civic, professional, agricultural and other community organizations and activities. They will keep the public informed and plan and conduct an organized program of community involvement as a part of the STEM and community relations programs. This may include, but is not limited to local businesses, alumni, and other organizations pertinent to the ODE Program of Study. Some of this activity will occur after school, at night and during the summer. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the facilities and equipment used in all aforementioned activities.

Qualifications:
Current Oregon Teacher License with appropriate endorsements preferred
Additional endorsements strongly preferred
Knowledge of, or strong interest in, STEM/PBL education is preferred
Knowledge of current concepts, methods and procedures for curriculum development and implementation
Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate in a positive manner
Knowledge and implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
Skilled at Formative & Summative Assessment Practices that align with the CCSS
Skilled at Differentiated Instructional Practices
Skilled at Student Engagement Practices
Desires to be a part of the Imbler school community outside of the classroom
Other skills in coaching, club advising, leadership, student council, etc., preferred

Salary/Benefits:
Range - $42,647 - $80,463
District pays PERS contribution
$1,800 per month insurance cap with a 50% insurance opt-out option
