Special Education Teacher - Post High

Dayton School District is seeking a highly qualified special education teacher for our post high/transition program. This individual will work collaboratively with and lead a team of paraprofessionals to provide direct instruction, individualized support in alignment with the services outlined in their Individualized Education Plan. They will work alongside and in collaboration with a team of specialists, managing plans, and providing support specific to individual student needs. The individual will utilize knowledge of the IEP to case manage students in the program. A focus on building positive relationships with students, parents, and staff, is key.

Experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum, as well as students with range of disabilities ages 18-21 is desired. Salary based on experience and placement on the licensed salary schedule.

Physical Demands: The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; and use hands for fine manipulation, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to bodily fluids or blood borne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment varies.
