JOB SUMMARY
Position assists the building principals with developing, implementing and maintaining an exemplary student education program in conjunction with federal and state requirements and the district’s mission, goals and specific program requirements. Helps supervise and manage all aspects of a school including business/fiscal, student instruction, employee assignments and job performance, extracurricular activities including athletic/sports events and buildings and grounds maintenance. Assists with long-range, strategic planning for the program including staff development, replacing/upgrading equipment and instructional materials and building/grounds preventive maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties of this position include the following tasks. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned at any time.
Assists the building principals with the following:
Implementing and supervising the student educational program at the school level.
Master schedule design and implementation using the Synergy platform.
Supporting long-range, strategic planning for the program based upon federal and state requirements and the district’s mission, goals and specific requirements for the program.
Administering the annual school budget, monitoring expenditures and maintaining all financial records required by law and district policies and procedures.
Following all district purchasing procedures and requirements.
Recruiting and hiring qualified individuals to fill vacant or new positions, ensuring completion of necessary/required employee training.
Supervising and regularly evaluating school employees including licensed and classified personnel.
Participating as a member of school leadership teams.
Ensuring the school’s athletic teams comply with applicable OSAA requirements
developing and recommending policies, rules and regulations for school operations and enforcing approved/adopted policies, rules and regulations.
Developing, implementing and monitoring student discipline procedures for consistency and effectiveness.
Maintaining required records and ensuring accuracy and necessary content as required by federal and state laws and regulations and district policies and procedures.
Taking reasonable steps to protect students, staff, facilities and equipment and ensuring completion of required/requested building maintenance and care of school grounds.
Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with building principals, teachers and other staff members, parents/guardians and community members.
Regularly using oral, written and electronic communications to school employees, other administrators, other staff members, students, parents/guardians and community members regarding the school’s education program, goals and activities.
Developing and evaluating school improvement plans and staff development plans which will be aligned with state and district requirements.
Building and maintaining partnerships with state, county and city agencies, local businesses and other community resources.
Serves as the point of contact for students and parents/guardians for matters related to student discipline.
Presents issues and concerns to the principal for review and resolution.
Demonstrates knowledge and skill in applying conflict management and dispute resolution techniques.
Keeps abreast of trends and best practices and their potential impacts upon school programs, activities and operations.
Maintains professional relationships with colleagues and participates in professional development activities which enhance the school’s programs and activities.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all district policies and procedures.
Maintains consistent, daily and punctual attendance.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Consistently follows all applicable federal and state laws and all district policies, rules and supervisor directions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience:
A Master’s degree in Education or related field is required.
A valid Oregon administrator license is required.
A minimum of five years of successful teaching and a minimum of three years of administrative experience are preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of:
Child and adolescent growth and development
Project management principles
Group facilitation techniques
Academic curriculum, teaching techniques and student learning measurements
Current theories and practices regarding educational reform
Employee evaluation and discipline is required.
Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on solving conflict, maintaining confidentiality, listening to others, keeping emotions under control, remaining open to others’ ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit. Demonstrates the ability to remain calm and professional in an environment with frequent interruptions. Interacts with staff and students appropriately.
Language Skills: Ability to communicate in English fluently both verbally and in writing, including proficiency in spelling and grammar. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, staff, regulatory agencies, vendors and members of the community. Ability to read and interpret documents including governmental regulations, safety rules and operating and maintenance instructions/ instruction manuals. Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence with high degrees of accuracy and professionalism.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, schedule or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving more than one variable.

Computer Skills: Ability to effectively use office computers and internet access for email, research, word processing, database manipulation, visual presentations and general web-based applications.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to exercise good judgment and work effectively in a dynamic environment. Ability to regularly work flexible hours.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A valid Oregon Driver’s License is required. Valid First Aid and CPR cards are required. Must have or be able to obtain various certificates, licenses and/or registrations as required by federal, state or local law(s) and/or determined by the district.

The employee may occasionally use approved restraint and de-escalation procedures with students.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is a standard school office, gym, lunchroom/cafeteria and athletic field/track settings. The noise level of the work environment is usually low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon the location, the student population and current activities. The employee occasionally will be required to supervise students. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions, including seasonal heat and cold. The employee may occasionally be exposed to contagious diseases, bodily fluids, blood-borne pathogens, cleaning agents, hazardous chemicals and fumes.
The employee may occasionally implement crisis prevention/intervention protocols which involve risk of personal injury from students.
