JOB SUMMARY:
The Dayton School District is seeking a dedicated District School Nurse to support the health and wellness of all K–12 students across the district. The School Nurse works as a critical member of our educational team to ensure a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment that promotes student success and well-being. This position provides health assessments, emergency care, chronic illness management, and health education services, while collaborating with educators, families, and healthcare providers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher
Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in Oregon
Oregon School Nurse Certificate or eligibility to obtain
CPR/First Aid Certification
Experience working with children and adolescents
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with care
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in a school or pediatric nursing setting
Knowledge of special education and 504 processes
Training in equity practices, trauma-informed care, or mental health
Spanish language proficiency
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct health assessments, manage chronic conditions, and deliver emergency care
Develop and implement individualized health plans (IHPs)
Support immunization compliance and communicable disease reporting
Collaborate with families, educators, and health professionals
Provide training to staff on student health conditions and protocols
Maintain accurate and confidential health records
Promote student wellness through health education and resources
Participate in school-wide safety and wellness initiatives
