Job Title: High School Vocal Instructor
Work Calendar: Part Time, 189 days
Schedule: Part-Time, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday–Friday
Compensation: $18,000 to $24,000, depending upon experience and qualifications
Redmond Proficiency Academy (RPA) is seeking a passionate and talented Vocal Instructor. The ideal candidate is a vocal educator with a collaborative spirit and a deep appreciation for student-centered, proficiency-based learning. Under the general supervision of an assigned Director, the vocal instructor will inspire and develop student performers both in the classroom through a Vocal Ensemble class and on stage.
Approximately 60% of Time - Student Instruction and Vocal Coaching
Teach one section of Vocal Ensemble, providing instruction in vocal technique, group singing, harmony, and performance.
Serve as the Vocal Director for RPA’s musical theatre productions, coordinating with the Theatre Director and Production Team.
Lead vocal rehearsals and support students in solo and ensemble pieces.
Assist in musical selection and audition preparation.
Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student learning.
Contribute to a creative and inclusive learning environment that encourages student voice, artistic risk-taking, and growth.
Manage student behavior in a way that reflects and supports RPA culture.
When not in musical production season, offer individual or small group vocal coaching and support for students’ vocal development across genres.
Approximately 40% of Time - Student Supervision and Other Duties as Assigned
Supervise students during after-school theatre rehearsals
Attend and help supervise students during fall and spring productions.
Attend necessary production meetings, performances, and student showcases.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Previous experience in providing instruction in vocal technique, group singing, harmony, and performance
Ability to successfully work as part of a team.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
Ability to build high-quality relationships with students.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard office and school building environments.
Certification/License
Current teaching license or the ability to obtain a charter school registry license through Oregon’s Teacher Standards and Practices Commission
