About the program:
Our Life Enrichment Education Program (LEEP) provides a comprehensive education for students grades kindergarten through transition with complex disabilities and communication needs. The program focuses on supporting students to develop knowledge and skills that increase decision making, self-advocacy, independence and access to a full life.
About this position:
Clackamas Education Service District, Life Enrichment Education Program (LEEP), provides a comprehensive education for students grades kindergarten through transition with low incident and complex disabilities. In this tier three program, LEEP supports students to access academic, social-emotional, alternative, and augmentative communication within an alternative life skills framework for instruction. Multidisciplinary classroom teams include special education teachers, educational assistants, behavior coaches, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, behavior specialists, nurses, adaptive physical education teachers and regional supports as needed. LEEP serves students across Clackamas County and is accessed through the student’s local school district and placement is made through the IEP process.
Essential functions:
Collaborative and Ethical Leadership
-Articulates the program’s mission and purpose to the variety of stakeholders that this position interfaces within classrooms, buildings, and community environments.
-Informs the Leadership Team of significant issues that may impact the program, ESD, or component school districts.
-Represents the CESD and program during Individual Education Program (IEP), program meetings, professional development, conferences, and professional activities maintaining awareness of the potential ethical, legal, and program impact as a result of the interactions and decisions made during the event.
-Participates in the development and ongoing evaluation of the Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) that is the driver for the program’s continuous evaluation that guides its framework to ensure the program’s goals are being achieved.
Instructional Leadership
-Nurtures and sustains a culture of collaboration, trust, learning mindset, and high expectations.
-In collaboration with leadership develops, evaluates, and continues to modify the implementation of the program’s equitable instructional model that is guided by the principals of universal design for learning and building motivating and personalized environments and assisting classroom staff in the implementation of that model.
-Coordinates the planning and delivery of student services including multi-disciplinary classroom team collaboration, IEP teams, IEP development, students’ three-year reevaluations, provision of related services and access to mainstreaming opportunities.
-Completes scheduled rounding of assigned classrooms to support the development of a positive climate.
-Supervises the implementation of established program-specific procedures and directives and participates in systematic oversight strategies to monitor compliance with program procedures and culture that includes observing, modeling, and instructional coaching aligned with the program’s alternative framework for a comprehensive, rigorous and coherent alternative curricula to maximize time spent on quality instruction.
-In collaboration with leadership team, promotes the use of the most effective and appropriate assistive technologies (AT) and alternative augmentative communication systems to support teaching and learning.
-Demonstrates knowledge and skill in applying conflict management and dispute resolution techniques.
Effective Management
-In collaboration with the leadership team developments, evaluates, and continues to modify a data system to ensure all IEP’s are being implemented as written and student progress is being monitored to inform instructional practices in order to meet the academic, social and functional learning skills of every student and monitor and evaluate the impact of instruction.
-Promotes and protects the welfare and safety of students and staff by ensuring each classroom has a two-way communication system to gather and inform; bridge home to school messaging and notify the Administration team when needed.
-Based on themes and data, the Supervisor collaborates with leadership to inform the development of the professional learning communities and professional development opportunities.
Minimum qualifications:
-Master’s Degree in Education
-Appropriate administrative license as required by Teacher Standards and Practices Commission
-Five years or more of successful special education teaching experience or administrative experience in public education - with skills sufficient to perform the essential functions.
-Working knowledge of Adult Learning.
-Working knowledge of best instructional practices for students with complex disabilities.
-Working knowledge of current state and federal laws, policies, administrative rules, and model programs related to implementation of the education goals set forth in IDEA.
-Experience working on a collaborative team with shared and authentic leadership.
-Proven demonstration of the following leadership qualities that include: maintaining a growth mindset, adult learners, resilience, emotional intelligence, and a sense of calmness and grace under pressure.
-Proven excellence in interpersonal skills and communication that include; navigating difficult conversations, modeling being a curious listener, and showing judgement related to the time, context, and participates in conversations.
-Demonstrated ability to use judgment in the analysis of facts to formulate recommendations for courses of action.
Salary: Range 9 of the meet and confer salary schedule: $110,879 - $121,166 depending on experience.

Retirement plan contributions:
Clackamas ESD employees working 600 or more hours in a calendar year are eligible for the Oregon Public Employee Retirement, or PERS. There are two components to PERS, including the pension, which is primarily funded by CESD and The Individual Account Program, or IAP, which is funded by a six-percent deduction from your paycheck. If you are new to PERS, your PERS deduction will begin automatically after a six-month waiting period.
