ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL - Mt. Solo Middle School
Beginning July 1, 2025

SUPERVISOR: Building Principal

This position will assist the Principal to ensure effective performance and academic achievement at the middle school level.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Contract Term: 210 days/year
Salary: $140,527 - 152,725
Benefits: Medical, dental, vision and other board approved benefits

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Washington State certificate to practice as a secondary principal.
2. Master's degree with concentration in educational administration preferred.
3. Five years of successful experience in public school education.
4. Administrative experience desirable.
5. Possess a steadfast commitment to improving student academic success and social well-being.
6. Experience analyzing and interpreting multiple data sources to inform school-level improvement.
7. Creates and sustains a school culture that values and responds to the characteristics and needs of each learner.
8. Knowledge and experience utilizing the PLC planning and data cycle to ensure actionable outcomes designed to meet the needs of all students.
9. Experience utilizing an instructional framework to monitor, support, and evaluate effective instruction and assessment practice.
10. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work staff, families, community, and the District Leadership Team.
11. Exemplify unquestioned integrity, honesty, diplomacy, and confidentiality and is a positive role model for staff and students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Instructional Leadership
1. Facilitate the creation and implementation of a School Improvement Plan (SIP) utilizing data and best practices in instruction and assessment in alignment to the District Strategic Plan Goals.
2. Oversee the implementation of core curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs that ensure compliance with Board priorities, District educational goals, and State standards.
3. Provide leadership to ensure school safety for students and staff both physical and for social emotional and intellectual safety.
4. Provide leadership and professional development to staff teams to analyze data and take actionable outcomes for student academic growth.
5. Model and support best practices of instructional strategies through professional development and the teacher evaluation process.
6. Provide the leadership necessary to create, implement and support effective systems of academic and behavior intervention.

School Management
1. Assist the principal with the general management of day-to-day operational functions of the middle school.
2. Supervise and manage assigned departments and programs within the school.
3. Oversee athletic and activity programs and budgets.
4. Provide leadership in maintaining discipline and attendance.
5. Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance to include BECCA procedures.
6. Provide leadership in curricular development in assigned department, i.e. special education and technology.
7. Administrate and/or supervise dances, events, concerts and athletic activities.
8. Help coordinate staff development.
9. Be active in both school and district curriculum committees.
10. Ensure the implementation of District-wide goals, priorities, policies, and procedures by coordinating assigned activities with other departments.
11. Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
12. Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment.

Supervision
1. Supervise and evaluate building certificated staff.
2. Supervise designated departmental classified staff.
3. Supervise athletic coaches and activity advisors.

Communication and Collaboration
1. Ensure effective two-way communication between the building administrative team and staff.
2. Maintain ongoing communication with the following:
a. Building principal
b. District Administrative Team
c. Students, parents and community
3. Proven record of collaborative experiences with staff.
4. Ability to create an open and welcoming environment of approachability for community and staff.
5. Visible within the larger community context.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Required to travel within region and state.
2. Required to work flexible hours and schedules.
3. Office/classroom/school campus environment

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Contract Term: 210 days
Salary: $140,257-152,725 based on the 2025-26 salary schedule; based on qualifications and experience
