POSITION: Dean of students
Harrisburg operates on a 4-day school week M-TH. Work days and hours are flexible for this position, which means it is possible to personalize work times and days.
COMPENSATION: $44,038- $86,354
Placement on the salary schedule will be commensurate with education, experience, and work schedule. District policy GCBA will be implemented.
BENEFITS: Prorated employer-paid insurance CAP to assist with health, dental, and vision premiums, employer-paid Basic Life, and AD&D policies. Paid personal days, sick leave, and paid holidays, with a generous PERS retirement contribution.
Job Overview:
This position will provide comprehensive support services to students in grades 5-8. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in either counseling or student interventions, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping young adolescents navigate the challenges of middle school. Working closely with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to promote student success and well-being.
Responsibilities: The following is not a comprehensive list of duties; specific duties will vary depending on the job title.
Coordinate student discipline to include discipline referrals.
Monitor student behavior and develop interventions to support positive student behaviors.
Monitor attendance and develop interventions to support student attendance.
Campus supervision/security (hallways, cafeteria, student activities, and buses).
Facilitate the schools' PBIS system classroom management.
Actively participate in and facilitate the attendance and behavior portions of PBIS, working closely with teachers to increase support for more positive behaviors.
Other duties as assigned related to the position.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field
Valid state certification
Knowledge of crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques.
Certification in child development or a related specialty is preferred.
Previous experience working with middle school students is preferred.
Strong understanding of adolescent development and the unique challenges faced by middle school students.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
