Job Title: Secondary Education Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY
The Secondary Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the academic achievement and operational effectiveness of schools within the district. This role provides leadership, direction, and strategic planning to enhance student learning outcomes, partner with school leaders, and ensure alignment with district policies and educational standards. This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent or Director of Teaching and Learning.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Leadership: Provide guidance and collaborate with school principals in implementing evidence-based instructional practices that enhance student learning and achievement including alignment of district curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
School Performance Monitoring: Analyze student performance data, identify areas for improvement, and develop action plans to drive academic success.
Professional Development: Design and oversee professional learning for school leaders and staff in order to promote continuous improvement.
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to support district-wide goals.
Policy Implementation: Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations regarding education policies and procedures.
Resource Allocation: Collaborate with district leadership to allocate resources effectively and manage assigned district budgets and grants.
Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with students, parents, community members, and educational stakeholders to support student success.
School Improvement Initiatives: Lead efforts to enhance the academic performance of underperforming schools and implement turnaround strategies where needed.
Personnel Supervision: Supervise and coordinate content TOSAs.
Collaboration: Work closely with district departments to coordinate initiatives related to curriculum, instruction, assessment for focal groups including those being served through special education, 504, ELL, and TAG.
System Development: Lead efforts to improve district wide systems including MTSS, PLCs, and other district initiatives.
Content Coordination: Overseeing research-based implementation of Literacy/ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health, PE, CTE, the Art’s, and other content as applicable.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Maintains confidentiality of student and personnel information.
Participates in various meetings for the purpose of receiving information or sharing information and expertise with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
Valid administrative certification/license as required by the State of Oregon.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in education leadership.
Proven track record of improving student achievement and school performance.
Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional best practices, and educational assessments.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to analyze data to drive school improvement efforts.
Experience working with diverse student populations and implementing equity-focused initiatives.

Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of federal and state education law.
Knowledge of special education and Section 504 regulations and laws.
Knowledge of migrant students programming and English language learner supports.
Understanding of the individual needs of students.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents and the community.
Ability to implement policy and procedures.
Ability to interpret data.
Ability to manage budget and personnel.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
