POSITION TITLE: Instructional Assistant at Santiam Elementary School
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 8 hours per day, 161 contract days per year with benefits as specified in the Classified Agreement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Meet the ODE "highly qualified" requirements:
1. Be 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or its equivalent AND fulfill one of the following criteria.
a. Complete two years of study at an institution of higher education
b. Have an associates degree or higher
c. Successfully passed the Oregon Paraprofessional Exam. If you have not taken the exam and want to, we can help with setting that up.
2. Successful prior experience working with children.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Work effectively with all types of students and staff
Establish positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues;
Understand and follow oral and written instructions;
Maintain confidentiality in all phases of work, i.e., records, meetings, etc.
Provide supervision of students in a non-instructional setting such as the lunch room and/or playground setting;
Work with students during instruction and/or enrichment activities, as guided by licensed instructional staff;
Assist in implementing policies and rules governing student conduct and behavior;
First Aid/CPR preferred, but not required.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
