JOB SUMMARY:
Dayton School District is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Reading Intervention Teacher to join our team at the junior high level. The successful candidate will provide targeted reading support to students in grades 6–8 through evidence-based intervention strategies, working with small groups and individual learners. This position plays a critical role in helping students build foundational literacy skills, accelerate growth, and succeed in the classroom.
We are looking for an educator who is collaborative, data-driven, and passionate about reading development and student success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide small-group and individual reading instruction using evidence-based intervention programs.
Administer and analyze reading assessments to identify student needs and monitor progress.
Adapt and implement appropriate instructional materials and strategies.
Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to support student literacy development.
Use data to inform instructional decisions and track student growth.
Participate in professional development related to literacy instruction and intervention practices.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and interventions.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate endorsements
Experience teaching reading or literacy intervention at the middle school level
Knowledge of reading development, assessments, and intervention strategies
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Commitment to equity, continuous improvement, and student-centered instruction
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Endorsement in Reading or Literacy
Experience with MTSS or RTI frameworks
Familiarity with progress monitoring tools and state standards
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Training in dyslexia awareness and supports
