Lead Where Community, Purpose, and Opportunity Come Together
Spanning more than 6,500 square miles of Southern Oregon’s high desert, forests, and agricultural lands, Klamath County School District (KCSD) serves nearly 7,000 students across a network of small, deeply rooted rural communities. In Klamath County, schools are central to community life — places where generations gather through learning, athletics, the arts, and shared traditions. Students are known and supported, and school events — from Friday night lights to CTE showcases — bring families and neighbors together. KCSD is seeking its next Superintendent to partner with the community in shaping the future of its schools.
KCSD is located within a county experiencing positive momentum and collaboration. The region is home to strong and growing partnerships across Career and Technical Education, healthcare, higher education, and workforce development. With multiple post-secondary institutions and dual-credit opportunities, there is a shared commitment to building a K–16 environment that prepares students for both local careers and broader post-secondary options. This is a community that values innovation and progress — and is eager to grow that work alongside district leadership.
We are seeking a Superintendent who understands rural education not as a concept, but as a lived experience. Success in this role will come not from importing solutions, but from listening, recognizing what is already working, and bringing strong instructional leadership to strengthen teaching and learning across the district.
The ideal candidate will be a visible, relationship-centered leader who brings humility, curiosity, and sound judgment to complex rural work — strengthening instruction and expanding meaningful pathways for every student. Working across Klamath County’s communities, the Superintendent will help focus the district around shared priorities and continue earning the pride embodied in #ProudToBeKCSD.
Beyond the schools, Klamath County offers an exceptional quality of life for those who value the outdoors and a strong sense of place. The region provides abundant opportunities for hunting, fishing, hiking, and year-round recreation, with easy access to iconic destinations such as Crater Lake National Park, Upper Klamath Lake, and expansive public lands throughout Southern Oregon. For many, this is a place where work, community, and lifestyle naturally connect — offering space to breathe, contribute, and put down roots.
This is an opportunity to lead a district where presence matters and leadership is built through trust, time, and shared commitment — and where doing that work well can make a lasting difference for students and families across Klamath County.
