CTE Teacher - Agriculture, Metals, Wood & Construction

North Douglas School District is seeking a licensed Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teacher to provide hands-on instruction in agriculture, woodshop, metals, and basic building construction at North Douglas High School.
As a small rural school, this position requires flexibility, strong safety practices, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and the local community. The successful candidate will support student learning through applied, project-based instruction and career readiness opportunities.

Instruction & Classroom Responsibilities
• Provide instruction aligned with Oregon state standards and district curriculum in agricultural science, woodshop, metals, welding, and basic construction.
• Establish and maintain a safe, engaging, and well-managed learning environment.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including IEP/504 plans.
• Assess and report student progress in accordance with district and state requirements.
• Promote employability skills, leadership, teamwork, and workplace readiness.
Shop, Lab & Safety Management
• Maintain safe and functional shop, lab, and outdoor learning environments.
• Supervise student use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and machinery.
• Enforce safety procedures and proper use of equipment at all times.
• Maintain tool, equipment, and supply inventories.
• Order and manage instructional materials within program budgets.
Professional Responsibilities
• Meet Oregon standards for competent and ethical performance.
• Collaborate with colleagues, instructional assistants, and administration.
• Supervise assigned instructional assistants or volunteers as applicable.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

Required Qualifications
• Valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate CTE or Professional Technical endorsement.
• Ability to work effectively with high school students in hands-on learning environments.
• Knowledge of safety practices related to shop, agricultural, and technical instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience teaching agriculture, woodshop, metals, welding, or construction.
• Knowledge of Perkins and CTE Pathways.
• Experience working in a rural or small-school setting.
