Fossil School District and Fossil Elementary School offers an extremely unique and thrilling place to teach. Our students are the best kids in the world. We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher that likes small classes, (5 to 12 students) a financially stable and strong district, a school that has a large garden and greenhouse, every student has an iPad, there is new interactive smart Panels in every classroom, school-wide field trips, every day PE and music, and an opportunity to live and work in the beautiful Painted Hills of the John Day River Basin.
Fossil School District has only one school in the district and it is a charter school. We have a mission that includes raising our kids to the highest academic levels possible and at the same time developing in them a love and appreciation for our natural resources. Our place-based, hands-on approach to teaching allows our teachers many opportunities to incorporate "out-side the box " lesson plans. This position replaces a retiring 38 year veteran teacher. Be advised, coming to Fossil and teaching here will result in you falling in love with the community and the kids and a life style that you will never find in a city. Our brand new school playground will make you think you are in the city, but our clean air, clean water and beautiful star filled night sky will attest to the fact that you are in God's Country.
Our pay scale is very competitive as is our benefit package. We offer tuition reimbursement as we encourage you to continue learning right along with your kids. If you have a love of Art, a green thumb that you have always wanted to exercise, a desire to take kids beyond the classroom to the stars, then this is the job for you.
To apply, simply fill out the Statewide Teacher Application, (found on our website under the "Jobs" link), a resume, cover letter and 3 letters of recommendation. Send them to:
