Responsibilities
Teach content and skills in English Language Arts, including literature, composition, reading and writing elementary students
Create and adapt assignments and lesson plans to comply with the Common Core Standards and to guide and challenge students
Provide individualized and small group instruction and adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
Evaluate the academic growth of students, prepare report card, and keep records that include classroom incidences related to behavior/discipline
Evaluates each student’s progress in meeting the grade-level standards for English language arts. Must have or be working towards ESOL endorsement
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment, according to the PBIS and discipline policies and procedures
Identify student needs and cooperate with other staff members in assessing and helping students solve academic and behavior issues
Communicate regularly with parents and school leaders on student academic progress
Create and update teacher webpage regularly
Administer interim and state tests in accordance with the school’s practices
Use technology to enhance student learning
Serve as an exemplar of professional behavior and practices in all activities
Attend faculty meetings, staff development programs, curriculum development meetings and other professional activities
Participate in student and parent activities, including parent teacher conferences and after-school activities
Work with ELA team and colleagues to ensure student learning and growth objectives are being met
Perform a variety of non-instructional duties, including curriculum and instructional development activities and student supervision
Qualifications:
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
Preferred: Master’s degree in education or a related field
Current State of Oregon Teaching License
Experience with planning and/or teaching elementary curriculum aligned with standards and driven by data
Knowledge of current educational practices and trends that lead to student success in specific content area;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community
