Associate Principal (K-8)

Sheridan School District is seeking appropriately licensed candidates for the position of 1.0 FTE Associate Principal who is based at Faulconer-Chapman School, a K-8 school. This position is an administrator position and requires candidates to currently possess or be able to acquire an Oregon Administrator License.

Dynamic Leadership at the Middle School
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the principal with the organization, administration, and supervision of all aspects of the school program and operation, including extra curricular activities, in order to maximize the educational opportunity and academic achievement of all students.

An associate principal at Faulconer-Chapman is a dynamic and visible leader who works with the principal and staff to create:

Successful Candidates will Coordinate Middle School Operations:
• Possess strong knowledge and application of Culturally Responsive Practices
• Firmly believe that all individuals can learn and improve - creating a growth-mindset culture in classrooms throughout the building
• Possess extensive academic training and content knowledge of middle school curriculum and instruction, be a strong instructional leader and resource for all staff and understand and be able to demonstrate differentiated instruction
• Communicate effectively and professionally, verbally and in writing, with staff, families, colleagues, students and the community
• Facilitate use of data to inform instructional and intervention decisions
• Effectively plan, develop and facilitate engaging professional development that is aligned to staff, building and District goals
• Connect well with students, staff, families and the school community – be open to learning about others, especially those who may be different from you
• Able to supervise athletic events, dances and concerts, while being able to work extensive hours as after-hours work is routine and expected during the school year.
• Able to organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction and under stressful circumstances
• Maintain collaborative and collegial relationships based in positive regard with staff, administrators and district staff (be a team player)
• Recognize students’ different needs, abilities and interests and be flexible to adjust instruction and supports to meet those needs, abilities and interests
• Lead and support special programs that are effectively and positively integrated into general education and the school community
• Strive to support and maintain a strong professional learning community that encourages academic excellence for all students
• Maintain a high standard of ethics in all professional relationships, actions and decisions
• Possess skills and abilities to effectively coach and evaluate assigned staff

Minimum qualifications:
• Oregon Administrator License
• 3 Years Teaching experience
• Culturally proficient skills and strategies

Highly desirable qualifications:
• Bilingual or multilingual abilities, preferably Spanish/English
• Experience working in richly diverse school communities and environments
• Strong Knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
• Strong Knowledge of Response to Intervention Strategies
