TITLE: MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Oregon Administrative License.
Prior successful administrative experience preferred.
Middle level teaching experience desirable.
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student.
Assists in establishing and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the students.
Accepts responsibility for all student learning as prescribed by the District adopted curriculum.
Assists in the recruitment, screening, hiring, assigning, and training of the school's staff.
Assists in supervising and evaluating staff assigned to the school.
Participates in and/or leads the school-based management council.
Accepts responsibility for the attendance, conduct, health, evaluation, monitoring, and placement of students.
Maintains the safety and administration of the school plant.
Assists in developing the school budget.
Acts as Principal in his/her absence.
Designs and implements strategies to provide for a successful opening and closing of school year by coordinating the efforts of entire staff.
Develops and maintains positive lines of communications with students and staff.
Develops and maintains positive lines of communications with parents, patrons, community and public agencies.
Administers student discipline.
Represents the school in expulsion hearings.
Participates as an active and contributing member of the administrative team.
Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession.
Assumes other duties as might be assigned by the Principal.
Work effectively with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds
Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean, and appropriate professional manner for the assignment and work setting
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
Follow all District policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by proper authority
Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or District patrons
The employee may: stand/walk 6-8 hours; sit 6-8 hours; drive 1-4 hours. The employee may use hands for repetitive single grasping, fine manipulation, and pushing/pulling 100 pounds maximum. The employee may bend, squat, lift, and climb stairs.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 225 days. Salary range $92,533 to $106,194. Work schedule to be established by the Superintendent.
