Summary: The Kitchen Coordinator will coordinate daily kitchen operations and
perform accurate and up-to-date maintenance on student meal accounting software program, keeping parents and families informed of their current account status to maintain the quality of the nutrition program for students and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
All or some of the following tasks may be required. Other duties may be assigned.
a. Perform child nutrition functions in order to provide students with an approved nutrition program while maintaining compliance with District, state and federal guidelines, regulations and policies.
b. Utilize computer skills to include the use of word processing application, Internet use, and email sending and receiving.
c. Approve Free and Reduced Lunch applications and update student status on meal
tracking program.
d. Communicate with school secretary to gather accurate new student information and to update student enrollment status.
e. Insure accurate food production records are maintained and food-cooking temperatures are recorded.
f. Anticipate and communicate operational needs to supervisor to insure timely delivery of supplies and information.
g. On occasion, transport needed supplies from storage area and other school locations.
h. Receive, post and count all cash received, insuring accurate cash accountability.
i. Prepare particular food as assigned.
j. Clean equipment utilized in preparation of meals.
k. Serve meals to students.
l. Maintain accurate records.
m. Use personal initiative to cooperate in performing related duties necessary to the
full accomplishment of the District’s objectives.
n. Understand and maintain school, staff, student and parent confidentiality.
o. Perform physical tasks as required.
p. Make accurate mathematical calculations when requested.
q. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with students and staff members.
r. Move cooking utensils and food containers weighing 10-50 pounds.
s. Operate food preparation equipment such as mixers, warmers, stoves and steamers.
t. Work in an environment consisting of high heat and noise levels, requiring
continual standing or walking and moderate possibility of personal injury caused
by heated appliances, sharp utensils, and wet/uneven surfaces.
u. Operate efficiently within necessary time constraints.
v. Cook for large groups.
w. Follow recipes.
x. Operate all equipment safely.
y. Perform electronic accounting of meals and program participation.
z. Accurately handle cash transactions.
aa. Understand and assist with free and reduced price meals and associated
requirements.
bb. Maintain and update records, files and accounts as required.
cc. Perform student supervision as assigned.
dd. Utilize the chain of command procedure when attempting to resolve problems or
when seeking changes.
ee. Participate in appropriate professional development activities.
ff. Comply with all Board policies, administrative regulations and District
procedures, as well as all state, federal and local laws and regulations.
gg. Utilize the chain of command procedure when attempting to resolve problems or
when seeking changes.
hh. Performs other duties as assigned by Child Nutrition Director or administration.

Qualifications:
● Be at least 18 years of age.
● Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Qualified experience may be substituted.
● A minimum of 3 years experience as a Child Nutrition Assistant with proven
skills in all aspects school cafeteria duties, to include student meal accounting software is preferred.
● Have a good working knowledge of all aspects of food safety and handling
procedures, inventory and cost control, and safe equipment operation and
preventative maintenance procedures needed for a cafeteria.
● Must have exceptional personal integrity, maturity, collaborative sills,
problem-solving skills and personal interest in working with students, staff,
parents and the community.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, see, hear, walk and sometimes sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 pounds. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed materials, and the ability to adjust focus.
